Koprivshtitsa

| Destinations

Behind the colorful facades

Blue, yellow and red houses are shown behind high stone walls.

Small bridges cross the river, and cobblestone streets wind between courtyards and wooden gates.

Koprivshtitsa is one of the places where the Bulgarian Renaissance can not only be read about, but also seen.

A little history

The city is closely connected with the April Uprising of 1876 and with personalities who occupy an important place in Bulgarian national history.

Many of the old houses are now museums.

How to experience it

Visit a few of the Renaissance houses.

Then put away your list of sights.

Take a walk along the river.

Sit down for lunch.

Enter the small streets.

Koprivshtitsa is a place for slow walking.
