Nessebar

History of a small peninsula

The road to Old Nessebar is narrow.

The sea remains on both sides, and stone churches and old houses gradually appear ahead.

Nessebar is a place that shows why the Bulgarian Black Sea Coast is much more than a beach.

What to see

Don't look for just one "main" landmark.

The old town itself is the experience.

Walk between the medieval churches.

Look at the characteristic wooden houses.

Go down to the sea.

Best time

Late afternoon.

Better yet – stay overnight.

When most of the day visitors leave, the old town becomes much quieter and the atmosphere changes completely.

Allocate: 1 day or one night
Good for: history, architecture, sea
Best season: May–June and September
Combine with: Pomorie or continue south
